East Suffolk District Council: Draft recommendations on the new electoral arrangements
Consultation Response The Aldeburgh Society has responded to the Boundary Commission's draft recommendations which follow the merger of Waveney and Suffolk Coastal District Councils and conclude that Aldeburgh should become part of a ward known as Sandlings to include Snape, Friston, Iken, Sudbourne, Orford and Gedgrave and be represented by one councillor. The Aldeburgh Society believes this proposal and the knock on effects it would create will be damaging for Aldeburgh and should be rejected. The Aldeburgh Society calls for the creation of a three member ward including Leiston and surrounding communities. Phase 3 Site Selection ended on 28 August. The Aldeburgh Society has strongly objected to the present proposals to site the substation to support these windfarms inland away from the coast and to the choice of Zone 7 (Friston) in particular. As we said in our response to the earlier consultation, our focus is on the effect of your plans on the AONB in which Aldeburgh lies and we believe that the present proposals will severely damage the AONB and must be resisted at all costs. We also most strongly support the objections raised by the Friston community to be found at SASES.org.uk website particularly with respect to the height of the proposed installations and their impact on an existing rural community. Community Consultation Phase 3 is now underway until 28th August. Details of linked events can be found here. The Aldeburgh Society has responded to the initial consultation. A copy of our response email is available on request: [email protected] Brickfields Barns:
There is an appeal against the refusal to grant planning permission for the development of 43 houses at Brickfield Barns, Saxmundham Road, Suffolk. The result of this will be determined by Public Inquiry, to be held on 11 September 2018. The Society opposes the application; information on why, how to support us, and progress reports, can be found on our dedicated page. |
